Me, You, & the Missing Elephant
Me, You, and the Missing Elephant is a poetry book that delves into questions of identity, family, and mental health. I was raised in the small town of Grand Blanc, Michigan, where there wasn’t a community that could relate to the specific experience of being Chinese-American. At school and at home there were different cultural expectations and mindsets that often conflicted in light of struggles. Raising questions around self-image, identity, family, and mental health is often stigmatized in more traditional Eastern cultures. This results in an absence of discussions around such topics, even among family.
Me, You, and the Missing Elephant is an outlet to share those experiences, and voice the thoughts and questions that have long been ignored by others and by myself.
