Shira Baron is a director, photographer and illustrator. Upon finishing her degree in film production and studio arts at The University of Michigan she will move back to Chicago and pursue filmmaking. Her most recent micro-short film documentary, De Sol A Sol (2020), won the Horizon Award, an international competition for rising female filmmakers that grants two winners the opportunity to be screened at Sundance and The Chicago Int. Film Festival. De Sol A Sol received press coverage from the Motion Pictures Association, ScreenDaily, and Women in Hollywood. In addition, Shira is currently in pre-production for another short film that has been partially funded by the Alice Webber Glover Award through FTVM. Her films explore self expression of identity and what it means to make connection in unlikely places.

De Sol A Sol: De Sol A Sol follows Abraham and Ricardo along the Chicago lakefront where they sell ice cream and offers a glimpse into the harrowing experiences of an ice cream man.
