This set of illustrations is a series of digital works, documenting the minute changes of my environment over the course of several months of quarantine. The perfectly matte black of the linework and backgrounds, contrasted against the sharp white objects creates a world with deep shadows and flat, smooth surfaces. It also leaves the objects unanchored, unmoored - it’s as much a room as it is a dark void. These images play with perspective, as I slowly map out my confined, cluttered space, and are a performance, with objects shifting around and repeating themselves in the process of daily life. I think, by this point, everyone is quite sick of the phrase “It’s an unprecedented time.” But, in an effort to engage with my circumstances, this map to my room becomes a testament to each passing day. Here, I am paying particular attention to where and when I am, and focussing on the smallest details, both in rendering and in daily life.
