Stop, Mo!

What work and planning goes into making a stop-motion animation? Perhaps a better question is: what unexpected things comes out by the end of the process? Once a puppet changes from a static sculpture to a moving being, they can take on an entirely unexpected personality. "Stop, Mo!" explores the idea that the puppet in a stop-motion animation has as much agency as the animator. No matter what the animator might call for, the puppet translates the actions for the audience. The final animation depends on their cooperation, but that's easier said than done, especially if the animator is as particular as the puppet.
