Your Fashion Sense Bugs Me

Your Fashion Sense Bugs Me is a set of one-of-a-kind garments and accessories that blend the beauty and charm of insects with the fine art side of fashion. Bugs have versatile forms and iconic silhouettes, which provided a way for me to incorporate my own illustrative style when designing new species. The practice of preserving and collecting insects also lends itself to the ways they are portrayed in my garments. Combining techniques from sculpture and practical movie effects, the fashion set pushes the boundaries of what can be considered an article of clothing. The pieces are tied together with a combination of iridescence and insect forms, but can be worn individually as well.

This video brings the energy of the garments to life and creates a new experience for the viewer.

The image depicts the two models next to each other in the full outfits created by the artist. The woman wears a black dress, with purple/blue iridescence, and a crown of a butterfly being eaten. The man has a button up and slacks. The slacks are black with green/blue iridescent pockets. The shirt is white with a large all-over pattern of brown and yellow insects with large claws. He wears a sculpture of one of these insects on his head like a hat.
This is a chest up image of the two models. The man now has a jacket on as well. It is clear with images of colorful insects all over.
This image is of the models in special studio lighting. The woman stands next to the crouching man. They are bathed in purple and blue light.
The man is seen from a low angle. With one hand, he holds the jacket over his shoulder, his other hand is in his shiny pocket.
The woman spins, flaring her skirt up around her. The fabric transitions from blue to purple showcasing how the colors change when the light hits it.
A close up of the man's jacket sleeve and pants pocket. The inside of the pocket is a scaly green/blue material that shines in the light. The cuff of the jacket sleeve is a silvery iridescent material.
The two models are in the studio again, with a spotlight shining from behind them, creating a lens flare. The woman pulls up a corner of the skirt to catch the light and give the dress volume.
The two models stand facing away from one another, bathed in blue/green studio lighting. White line-art images of insects are being projected onto them. The man's sleeve and woman's arm catch the light of these images.
