Plant Book

Visit https://plantbook.cargo.site/ to see and learn about my artists' books the way they were meant to be seen! I am a plant person - aesthetically, but I became interested in creating work surrounding our interactions with plants. We eat plants, we walk among them, we build our world with them. This intertwined cooperation with plants is both history of the human story and the future as well. This history and overlooked relationship inspired a book experience where the viewer might consider what it means to take an object, such as a book - traditionally made of unrecognizable plants - and construct it of plants and recycled materials while illustrating our micro and macro relationships with the living creatures. These books are handmade. Some of the work that went into these books includes papermaking with recycled materials, bookbinding, linoleum block printing, gouache painting, ink drawing, and letter stamping just to name a few. Visit https://plantbook.cargo.site/ for the best experience of my books! Artists’ books are meant to be ~experienced~ but this is a 21st-century twist on the genre. The site also provides deeper meaning, questions, research, and process for this artists’ book project!
