Field Guide to the Beasts of Art School
My practice is concerned with immersive storytelling, fantasy, and the joy of creating. Entering my final year of college, I felt a need to reflect on my complicated experience in art school. Was it worth it? Which experiences were most valuable? Additionally, as an aspiring high school art teacher, I wanted to create something helpful for the young artists of the future. My “Field Guide to the Beasts of Art School” uses experience and research to analyze the value of art school. I hope my readers walk away with a clearer picture of their own relationship with art school, but also with a sense of hope for their futures as artists regardless of whether they choose to attend university. I believe the journey of artistic growth never ends, so it’s vital to stay true to yourself and enjoy where it all takes you.
