The Intimate Expanse

The world around us is beautiful, filled with natural wonders and micro- and macroscopic patterns. Our lives: our daily routines, our words, and our actions, weave into this larger, patterned landscape. For this series, I have been inspired by the fine details and larger motifs of the natural world, and how these natural designs both influence and are a part of the ephemeral qualities of our lives. More specifically, I have explored how the world and our experiences within the world transcend our physical being and reveal an intersection of spiritual existence- an intersection of moments between the past, present and future. Through the medium of photography, I look to reveal the unique, individual perception of momentous qualities of life that are fleeting, but woven together like a tapestry of fate; looking to understand the intimate expanse of life within the world at an exact moment in time.

Taken in Mammoth Lakes, CA, during the wildfires in 2020, the photograph reveals the image of a red sun and smoke-filled sky, in juxtaposition to the gray-green of pine trees in the distance. The photograph captured the atmospheric elements of wind, sun, and smoke.
